Every project begins with a conversation. Whether you’re restoring a cherished family heirloom or simply giving a favourite chair a fresh new look, I’ll guide you through each stage of the process.
Timescales vary depending on the scope of each project and my current workload. I’ll always give you an estimated completion date before work begins and keep you updated throughout the process.
If you have a project that you’d like to discuss…
1. Get in touch
The best place to start is by sending me an email or WhatsApp message with a few details about your project. If you’re enquiring about a piece of furniture, it would be helpful to include:
- A photograph of the furniture.
- Its approximate age (if known).
- Whether you’d like any work carried out to the wooden frame.
- Your vision for the chair when it is complete.
From this, I’ll be able to provide an initial estimate for the upholstery work, together with a guide to the likely fabric cost.
2. Choose your fabric
Choosing the right fabric is one of the most enjoyable parts of the process. Together we’ll consider colour, texture, pattern, durability and how the finished piece will be used in your home. Depending on the design and composition, fabric prices typically range from around £50 to £150 per metre.
You’re very welcome to visit my workshop in Blofield, by appointment, where you can browse my collection of upholstery fabrics and discuss ideas in person.

3. Booking your project
Once you’ve chosen your fabric, I’ll prepare a final quotation.
To secure your place in my work schedule and allow me to order your fabric, I ask for a 50% deposit.
4. Collection or delivery to the workshop
When your fabric has arrived, I’ll arrange a convenient time to collect your furniture. For most projects I collect furniture myself, occasionally with an extra pair of hands. Larger pieces are transported by a trusted specialist furniture courier. If you prefer, you’re also very welcome to bring your furniture to my workshop by appointment.
5. The upholstery process
Your furniture will be carefully restored in my workshop. Every piece receives the same attention to detail and thoughtful craftsmanship.
6. Returning your furniture
When your project is complete, I’ll contact you to arrange a convenient delivery or collection time.
The remaining balance is payable before or upon the return of your furniture, and all that’s left is to enjoy your newly restored piece for many years to come.
